[edit] Shops that carry fixed stuff

  • hub jub: carry specialist fixed gear, mostly hubs, also EAI cogs. Will at Hub Jub is a really friendly character who gave me loads of pointers and advice when I built my first fixed. Recommended.
  • Alans BMX carries a range of freewheel sprockets (screw on to track hub)
  • JE James cycles also carry a range of freewheel sprockets (AC racing and Shimano)
  • Byer cycles are not an online shop, they are mail order. They have an online brochure with some cheaper fixed components: chainsets, sprockets, hubs.
  • John's bikes in Bath, my LBS. Very helpful and friendly staff. They carry some track stuff and can get more on order.
  • Park tools the best cycling tools out there. They also have some very good maintenance articles.
  • Sheldon Brown Sheldon again. He knows more than most about fixed/single. A good first place to find out about things. He has a good article about gear ratios (including crank length], about singlespeed conversions, fixed gear conversions and [ http://www.sheldonbrown.com/fixed/ more]
  • Solitude cycles hand built fixed and single speed frames
  • Oxford Cycle Workshop specialists in fixed gear and singlespeed conversions using classic frames and recycled parts.
